For this project we had to design an installaton piece to go within a room or area within Newstead Abbey. We began by visiting the abbey to get a feel of the area and atmosphere and to see if any rooms or areas inspired us. We then took our inspiration forwards and as a group began brainstorming our ideas for the space. Our initial ideas were to play with scale and the eat me and drink me potions, another idea was to recreate the garden scene and our final and chosen idea was to recreate the mad hatters workshop within one of the rooms. we wanted this space to look disorganised and chaotic whilst also being a creative and inspiring place. once we had come up with a specific idea and drawn up some visuals we began to go round charity shops sourcing different materials and objects we thought would suit the area and give the feel of a hat making workshop. We then also began making some hats in various stages of construction to be able to place in the room. We then set out all of the objects in a layout that we wanted and, when we were happy with them, we took photos to be used as references for how to decorate the room.
