Period Elements Project

For my period elements project I had to design a living space that was accurate to 1980's England. I began by researching into cultural and political contexts of the time and how that may influence my design. I then moved on to researching into 1980's interior design and furniture styles of the time.

Following my research I wanted to choose a character to base my design around in order to give some more atmosphere and soul to the room. I decided on the character John Bender from the breakfast club as we learn so much about his life and upbringing yet never get to see how he lives therefore I wanted to challenge myself to create his living space.

I then made a Sketchup model of how I imagined the room to look in order to make any changes I may need to make to the structure and architecture and in order to understand the size and atmosphere of the space.

I also created visuals to give an idea of the colour scheme and style of the room.

I then drew out a detailed technical drawing and from this made a white card model.
